Probability and Statistics

Random Variables

Described by the Probability Density Function.

  • - Mean of the sequence of measurements.
  • - Variance of the sequence of measurements.

Describes the hidden state of the system i.e. set of possible values from a random experiment and can be continuous or discrete.

Continuous

Can take any value within a specific range e.g. battery charge time or marathon race time.

Discrete

Can take any value that is countable e.g. number of visitors on a website or students within a class.
